A magical Christmas with the Nutcracker

The magical fairy tale of Clara, who ends up in a sort of Alice in Wonderland adventure on Christmas Eve, will be staged this year by the Odessa National Opera and Ballet Theatre. This company performs the world famous ballet in the traditional version in two acts, as it was written in 1892. Naturally played live by the orchestra to the music of Tchaikovsky. Classical ballet as rarely seen.

The Nutcracker

The Odessa National Opera and Ballet Theater performs the ballet in its original version, in two acts from 1892 to music by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky. The libretto is based on a fairy tale by Hoffmann. The original choreography is by Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov.

About Odessa's National Opera and Ballet Theater
The National Opera and Ballet Theater of Odessa was founded in 1810 under the name Odessa City Theater. It is the oldest theater in Ukraine. In the 20th century, the name was changed to Opera and Ballet. Great musicians and dancers have performed here such as Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, Nikolai Rimsky Korsakoff, Chaliapin, Caruso, Pablo Sarasat, Sergei Rachmaninov, Eugene Ysae, Isadora Duncan and Anna Pavlova.
