More than a century after its creation, 'Swan Lake' is still the most danced and for many the most beautiful ballet in the world. It is an immortal fairy tale about love and the eternal struggle between light and darkness, symbolized by the black and white swans, Odile and Odette. The dancers bring the love between Prince Siegfried and Princess Odette to life. 'Swan Lake', with the unforgettable music of Tchaikovsky, is undoubtedly one of the most romantic stories ever set to music. This masterful piece contains all the rich elements of 19th century romantic ballet, and is a pinnacle of classical dance as we know it today.

1895 was a milestone in ballet history, because that year 'Swan Lake' was performed in an adapted version by the famous choreographers Petipa and Ivanov and composer Tchaikovsky. The classic of classics had arisen. Ballet would never be the same again.

Swan Lake tells the romantic story about the love between Prince Siegfried and Princess Odette. Odette, Queen of the Swans, along with other young, innocent girls, has been bewitched by the evil wizard Von Rothbart. They live like swans and can only assume their human forms around midnight. Only true and pure love can break this spell.

When Prince Siegfried sees the girl Odette, he is instantly in love and wants to do everything he can to lift the curse. However, Von Rothbart cannot allow that and comes up with a terrible plan to keep the two lovers apart.

First act: It's a party at the castle because it's Prince Siegfried's birthday. The prince is carefree and enjoys the party to the fullest. But the prince has to choose a girl to marry from his mother at the next ball.

Second act: The prince and his retinue are on a hunt and arrive at a lake with swans they want to shoot. Odette, the queen of the swans, intervenes in time and explains to the prince that they are under a spell. The swans are actually young women and take on their true form every night.
The prince is instantly in love with Odette, the two bring a pas de deux. Siegfried asks Odette to come to his next ball and wants to marry her. Unfortunately, the spell forces her to go to the lake again as a swan.

Third act: In the castle, Prince Siegfried and his mother receive six girls who want to win the love of the prince. Von Rothbart brought his daughter Odile and misuses his magic to make her look like Odette. Odile dances a second pas de deux with the prince. The prince declares his love for her, the wizard and his daughter leave the party in triumph.

Fourth act: Odette and the other swans mourn at their lake. Odette is heartbroken and never wants to see Siegfried again. Prince Siegfried tells Odette of the wizard's deception. At that moment the wizard causes a storm. The two lovers drown together in the lake.
